"If your not even gonna talk then leave, Or i could leave." I stood up and walked out of the cabin. My neon green nike shoes stepped into the mud. I put my thumbs into my grey skiny jeans. I stood about 8ft away from the door. I looked at the camp, i could smell the wet grass. "Cool..." I turned to my left and walked towards the archery place thingy (sorry)

I laughed to myself, "Hey we can go to the battlefeild!" I said my fingers tingling to hit someone in the face.

My two cents on the rules that everyone seems to find so controversial: Quote from: draconis on July 09, 2008, 10:05:56 AM DRAGONADOPTERS FORUM RULES RULE 1.2 Users found having two accounts on the forum will be severly punished. Both users (or more) with the same IP will either get a PM from the admin and/or will get banned. If you get banned for the above reason, you're free to contact Draconis on draconis1609@gmail.com and the issue can be solved. I agree with some of the complaints of multiple IPs. Since the IPs are logged, a suggestion would be to have a watchdog flag the IPs on the accounts, and if they repeatedly log in with the same IP, then you should do more investigating before banning. However, I don't know what language you're using, nor do I program, so this might not be feasible at this point, but it might be an idea to look into for future versions. Quote from: draconis on July 09, 2008, 10:05:56 AM RULE 4.3 DO NOT advertise your adoptables outside your signature or the Adoptables Lair. They will be deleted immediately and you will get a warning. I would suggest this be sent out in a welcome e-mail when you sign up for the forums, or a friendly "By the way" for a first offense. I didn't read the rules, but a well-meaning user (or perhaps a moderator, I don't know) responded and told me it wasn't allowed, so I edited my message to remove it. Simple. I didn't need a Warning flag or to be banned for this. Quote from: draconis on July 09, 2008, 10:05:56 AM RULE 4.4 Posting level up requests is not allowed. For example, a post on the forum saying "please click on my dragon!". Begging for views and clicks is not permitted. All such posts and similar will be deleted. I have seen this in the Rules thread. Not as messages, but in signatures, so I don't know if the rules change for signature content..... I also don't know who the user is, so I can't point fingers. But if it's being applied selectively, it's not much of a rule. I'm just saying..... Quote from: draconis on July 09, 2008, 10:05:56 AM RULE 5.1 Every single post, topic, subject or thread has to be in English language. Posts that are in a different language will be removed and the member will be notified. This one I /don't/ disagree with. English is the international language of business. I think it's good enough for this forum. Even if it wasn't the international language, if it was chosen by the moderators, it's a fair choice. I don't peruse forums in languages I don't know, because I don't know them. I think that's all the Mods are saying. Quote from: draconis on July 09, 2008, 10:05:56 AM RULE 5.2 Please don't use too much chatspeak and textspeak on the forum. I wholeheartedly agree with this one. I despise messages with single letters meant to represent words. Even if you're on a dial-up account, you're paying for time, not bytes, so adding an additional 2 bytes to the letter "r" aren't going to raise your rates enough to worry about. If you want to do that, stick to cell phone messages. Quote from: draconis on July 09, 2008, 10:05:56 AM RULE 5.3 One word posts will be deleted. Please write something more meaningful than that. Again, I agree. "Me too" posts are the bane of every message board and newsgroup in the world. Quote from: draconis on July 09, 2008, 10:05:56 AM RULE 5.4 Do not put double posts. This means putting two posts in a row, with no one else's post in between. There is a 'Modify' button which enables you to change your own post at any time. If the rules of a forum board specifically state that you may double post, then you can, but ONLY there. This one's a bit harsh. Especially if the second post is another thought completely. However, seeing as there's apparently no message length limit, I can see where it came from, and I can obey it, even if I don't agree with it. Quote from: draconis on July 09, 2008, 10:05:56 AM RULE 5.5 Do not use more than 5 dragon emotes in a row. There's no point in putting too many of them in a post. I usually use my own, as I'm used to writing in text-only newsgroups. But I don't know how the forum handles extended ASCII, so I don't know if };=8Þ (equivalent to ) translates properly. But I guess I will now. Quote from: draconis on July 09, 2008, 10:05:56 AM RULE 5.6 Don't post duplicate topics. When posting a new topic/question, first check if a similar topic/question already exists on the forum. This can be tough, especially since there are hundreds of pages of topics to sort through. In this case, I think it should be moderated by rule 5.7, but with a friendly reminder (on the first offense, at least) rather than just moving it. Quote from: draconis on July 09, 2008, 10:05:56 AM RULE 5.7 Topics that are in the wrong place will be moved to a correct board without notification. Moving posts? Sure. Without notification? Bad idea. If I posted something in the wrong thread, and I come back tomorrow and find it's just gone, I'm most likely going to assume there was a glitch and re-post the topic again. If I receive a message telling me that it was moved, then I'll know and not re-post. As per 5.6 commentary, for the first offense, at least. Quote from: draconis on July 09, 2008, 10:05:56 AM RULE 5.9 Bumping threads is not allowed. Bumping means doing anything to keep the thread going even if it's old or to get the topic on top of the forum board. This also includes going off-topic. This I don't agree with. You've already got a rule that one-word posts aren't allowed. But if I post something that's somewhat relevant, is this bumping? Or is this adding to the thread? Is it keeping the thread going, or is it bringing up the point for discussion again? I think this one is too difficult to moderate, personally, and it can get you into a lot of trouble. Quote from: draconis on July 09, 2008, 10:05:56 AM RULE 8 ART THEFT will be dealt very harshly. If proven guilty by another party, the user will be banned from Dragonadopters forever. Art theft is considered taking art from another artist and claiming it as your own. Art theft is also reposting someone's art without their authorization. This should also be taken into consideration, I think. Quote RULE 9 Posts debating about the Forum Rules, Moderator / Administrator behaviour or enforcement methods outside this topic will be deleted without warning. If you want to report a mod or admin for misbehaving, then PM another admin. This shouldn't be "without warning". This is actually one of the only rules I've come across thus far that actually /should/ grant a warning. However, I would also like to point out that contacting another mod should be done as a last resort. Contacting the mod that performed the "questionable act" should come first, to try to work things out with them, before contacting another mod. But that's just the way I'd go about things.
Please forgive me if these points have been brought up before, but I lost patience in burrowing through a lot of whining. And, yes, you can call my post whining if you like. I don't see it as such, but others might.
