I agree with some of the complaints of multiple IPs. Since the IPs are logged, a suggestion would be to have a watchdog flag the IPs on the accounts, and if they repeatedly log in with the same IP, then you should do more investigating before banning. However, I don't know what language you're using, nor do I program, so this might not be feasible at this point, but it might be an idea to look into for future versions.

I would suggest this be sent out in a welcome e-mail when you sign up for the forums, or a friendly "By the way" for a first offense. I didn't read the rules, but a well-meaning user (or perhaps a moderator, I don't know) responded and told me it wasn't allowed, so I edited my message to remove it. Simple. I didn't need a Warning flag or to be banned for this.

I have seen this in the Rules thread. Not as messages, but in signatures, so I don't know if the rules change for signature content..... I also don't know who the user is, so I can't point fingers. But if it's being applied selectively, it's not much of a rule. I'm just saying.....

This one I /don't/ disagree with. English is the international language of business. I think it's good enough for this forum. Even if it wasn't the international language, if it was chosen by the moderators, it's a fair choice. I don't peruse forums in languages I don't know, because I don't know them. I think that's all the Mods are saying.

I wholeheartedly agree with this one. I despise messages with single letters meant to represent words. Even if you're on a dial-up account, you're paying for time, not bytes, so adding an additional 2 bytes to the letter "r" aren't going to raise your rates enough to worry about. If you want to do that, stick to cell phone messages.

This one's a bit harsh. Especially if the second post is another thought completely. However, seeing as there's apparently no message length limit, I can see where it came from, and I can obey it, even if I don't agree with it.

I usually use my own, as I'm used to writing in text-only newsgroups. But I don't know how the forum handles extended ASCII, so I don't know if };=8Þ (equivalent to ) translates properly. But I guess I will now.

This can be tough, especially since there are hundreds of pages of topics to sort through. In this case, I think it should be moderated by rule 5.7, but with a friendly reminder (on the first offense, at least) rather than just moving it.

Moving posts? Sure. Without notification? Bad idea. If I posted something in the wrong thread, and I come back tomorrow and find it's just gone, I'm most likely going to assume there was a glitch and re-post the topic again. If I receive a message telling me that it was moved, then I'll know and not re-post. As per 5.6 commentary, for the first offense, at least.

This I don't agree with. You've already got a rule that one-word posts aren't allowed. But if I post something that's somewhat relevant, is this bumping? Or is this adding to the thread? Is it keeping the thread going, or is it bringing up the point for discussion again? I think this one is too difficult to moderate, personally, and it can get you into a lot of trouble.

Art theft is also reposting someone's art without their authorization. This should also be taken into consideration, I think.

This shouldn't be "without warning". This is actually one of the only rules I've come across thus far that actually /should/ grant a warning. However, I would also like to point out that contacting another mod should be done as a last resort. Contacting the mod that performed the "questionable act" should come first, to try to work things out with them, before contacting another mod. But that's just the way I'd go about things.

Please forgive me if these points have been brought up before, but I lost patience in burrowing through a lot of whining. And, yes, you can call my post whining if you like. I don't see it as such, but others might.
