there will be two different people. two girls. same class. one bright, shinning, well known and beautiful. the other quiet, normal, still beautiful, just unnoticed. they share the lead role.
it will go back and forth between their lives. home and school. almost in sync. it will seem as though they are living the same life.
that is where the twist is. the beautiful girl wishes to be like the normal girl, and the normal girl wishes to be like the beautiful one. The twist is, its only one person. and undecided girl who wants it all, and cannot decide who she is. the song is not just based off of what her peers think of her, but herself as well.
it is to show that on both sides of the spectrum, one always wants something different, a change from who they are. one popular wants silence, and one silent wants the friends. but when you're the same person, one regular girl with a regular status trying to figure out what she wants to achieve, both seem good, both seem worth striving for, but both or not yourself.
the story is to not change yourself. not for what people want of you, not when people try to change. the story is to accept who you are.
Both "girls" will be told by "friends" to be more like someone else. the phrase "Why can't you be like" and "maybe if you just changed..." will be used along the way.
the way the two girls fight, symbolize the way her mind fights inside her.
girls names:

scene opens with a regular class scene. students are seated on stage right, and stage left, leaving an opening for the teacher in the middle. he/she is the focus. Carly is at one side of the room, Cassie at the other. The class is talking, it's near the end of the day.
Teacher: Okay class, calm down please. (Pause. class is still talking quietly) I know, I know. It's friday. But, school's not out ye-.
Bell rings
Teacher: Oookay, yes it is.
Class gets up, some snapping their chairs and leaving, others waiting behind for some friends.
Teacher: Cassie! Carly! Before you two leave, can I talk to you both.
Both girls stop and walk to center stage, leaving their chairs. they stand on either side of the teacher.
Teacher: Girls, it has come to my attention that you two have both been behind on a lot of your school work. And I do mean a lot. You haven't handed in a single assignmet since april. It's almost June! (pause) Normally, I'd speak with you individually, but I see no point when you barely know eachother. No harm.
Cassie: I-I'm sorry sir. It's been a bit hectic at home, I-I haven't had time...
Teacher: (Calmly.) We both know that's not an excuse Cassie...
Cassie: (Looks down) I know... I'm sorry.
Teacher: Thank you. Please try harder to get things in one time like everyone else and catch up... (pause) Carly. Is there anything you'd like to say?
Carly sifts her shoulder bag and looks away.
Carly: Not really no.
Teacher: Not at all?
Carly: (Dramatic sigh) Okay, homework. Got it. Can I leave now?
Teacher: (Rubs his face, disappointed) Yeah. Sure Carly.
She leaves, pulling out her cell phone as she does.
Teacher: Cassie...
Cassie: (Jumps) Y-yes?
Teacher: You can go now.
Cassie: Thank you sir...
Cassie leaves awkwardly bumping into something as she goes. Teacher shakes his head, grabes his books and leaves.
Scene goes dark and changes as both girls are now waiting on the street for their rides home. both on cell phone texting their best friend. they read the texts outloud for the audiances knowledge.
Carly: "Yeah, he pulled us both out at the same time. How rude! No privicy at all!"
Cassie: "I mean, it was embarressing having it brought up in front of her, I barely know her. I mean I know of her, but I don't know her. It was weird."
Carly: "I agree, he totaly should have talked to us seperately. Not to be rude, but I don't need a random weirdo knowing my problems."
Cassie happens to look over towards Carly, looking for her ride. Carly sees her.
Carly: Uhm, can I help you? (pause) What? now because you know my name and my homework issues you think you can stare? weirdo.
Cassie: I-I wasn't staring I was looking for my ride.
Carly: Pft. yeah. great excuse foureyes.
Cassie looks back at her phone and begins to answer her next text.
Cassie: "Now that I notice, she's not exactly a nice-"
Carly: What are you doing?!
Cassie: (Jumps) T-texting my friend.
Carly: About me? What's wrong with you? You don't know me.
Cassie: W-why do you assume it was about you, it wasn't.
Carly: (snorts) Oh yeah? Let me see then.
Cassie: W-what? No!
Both rides pull up at the same time, but as the audicance can't see, two differnent car horns honk.
Carly: That would be my ride. Never text about me again. Weirdo.
Carly leaves stage right, leaving cassie alone.
Cassie: (Looking at phone) "Now that I notice, she's not exactly a nice person, but I'm sure that's just on the outside. everyones different on the inside."
Cassie sighs, and exits stage left for her ride.
