(Beware, long post ahead)
"You can't run forever" A gruff male voice said as Megan quickly dodged the sword that had been aimed for her. The Ares boy in front of her had been desperately trying to hit her with his sword for about half an hour now, and he always missed. Megan had been narrowly missing the sword many times, she would be tired, but fear of getting sliced kept her moving.
Megan flew down and ducked as the boy made a strong swing, she was sure he had aimed for her neck.
"You're not supposed to kill me you know" Megan complained as she sprinted behind the Ares kid. The muscular male simply shrugged in response. Megan gritted her teeth in frustration as she continued to duck, sprint, jump, and dodge.
She would have used her powers but as soon as the idea came to mind each time, she'd have to think about dodging again.
There wasn't enough time.
The afternoon sun blazed down on the two as they continued to play this kind of tag.
Megan jumped as the sword was aimed for her feet, but was just a second too late because of her exhaustian. Megan tripped forward and ended up with a face full of dirt and slightly grazed hands and knees.
A smug look was on the Ares boy's face as she got up.
"See, you should have attacked while you had the chance. This was my strategy all along, just to get you tired so that I could finally hit-" Getting annoyed and frustrated over the fact that she lost and the fact that this boy was so arrogant and smug, much more than any other Ares cabin person she'd met, had lost control of her temper and the male teen's sentence had been cut off by the fact that he had been blasted about five feet away from herself. Thoroughly shaken, he had scrambled away, not out of fear, but probably just to boast about his newest win to his other cabin mates. Megan felt sorry for them for having to share a cabin with him.
Tired and sweaty, it was no wonder why the sparkling, cool canoe lake caught Megan's eye as she had started to walk away from the training area.
Well, I need to take a shower anyway, and this is my free hour...
No sooner had she finished that thought, Megan was already sprinting towards the water. She had taken her armor off and put her sword away in the training grounds, but had kept her dagger just in case. Her ponytail swished from side to side and Megan jumped in. Megan had never been very fond of swimming, but right then, it felt wonderful seeing as she had been baking in the sun for an hour. A few campers in their canoes looked at her oddly, but she ignored them, deciding that that wasn't the time to be self conscious.
After a few minutes of swimming, Megan emerged from the water, dripping wet and lay down looking up at the blue sky at the lake's edge, closing her eyes to relax and enjoy her free time to the fullest, when she heard footsteps approaching...
